Thanks for your interest in children’s social worker opportunities with Southend-on-Sea City Council.

“Southend-on-Sea is a place like no other. A great place to live, work and play. A vibrant, entrepreneurial place, with a burgeoning cultural scene. We are on an improvement journey and the commitment and passion from our front-line practitioners and managers, has been captured in a new vision for the service.

Our staff led the co-production of this new vision for the Service, one where all children experience love, a sense of safety and the opportunity to achieve success. Together with your colleagues, service users and partners you can play your part to help make this vision a reality. To do this this our staff agreed the following ways of working: –

• acting with integrity and behaving responsibly
• demonstrating strong leadership

We are already making good progress. Together we are tackling serious, high-profile issues; our partnership work on criminal exploitation, including county lines and gang affiliation, and our successful See the Signs campaign have all been recognised by the Home Office.

There is so much more that we want to do and you can help make it happen. We are looking for passionate and committed social workers to join us on our journey. We are committed to a practice framework that has Restorative Practice at its heart, where you will receive high support and high challenge. We know that social work is challenging but also incredibly rewarding.
